GoAir flight makes emergency landing at Del airport

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Good coordination among the DIAL, which manages the Delhi airport, the Air Traffic Controls in Delhi and Mumbai and the Go Air today averted a major mishap when Delhi- Mumbai-Delhi Go Air flight made a safe emergency landing at the Delhi airport this evening.

123 Passengers and crew travelling on the Go Air flight G 8-456 had a narrow escape today when the plane made a safe emergency landing on the runway of the Delhi airport at 1658 hrs, a DIAL spokesperson said.

Soon after the plane has left from Mumbai airport around 1430 hrs, the ground inspection team at Mumbai airport found some parts of the plane on the runway.

Immediately, the air traffic control at Mumbai informed the Delhi ATC who further informed the DIAL authorities. The DIAL auhtorities got in touch with GoAir engineers and the G 8-456 was asked to make a low flypast on the runway of the Delhi airport to enable the engineers to check the plane for any technical snag.

The visual inspection of the plane revealed that a nosewheel of the plane was missing.

In a swift action, the DIAL cleared the runway of all other scheduled flight which subsequently operated from other runway.

With the help of ground equipment the GoAir flight was asked to land on the runway itself.

''At 1658 his, the flight made a safe landing and immediately the passengers were deplaned and the aircraft towed away,''the DIAL spokesperson said.

All the passengers and crew on board were safe, they added.
