'Kill Disney's cartoon character Mickey Mouse'

Dubai, Oct 9: A Saudi Sheikh went on a regional television at length recently ranting against rats as pests and went to declare death to even Disney's Mickey Mouse in support of his cause. He said on Al Majd TV that children are not getting the message against the rodents as they are influenced by Western cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Mickey Mouse.

''They like Mickey Mouse whereas in reality Mickey Mouse should be killed,'' he was quoted by the Arab News as saying. Such talks have become a normal thing on TV these days as satellite channels proliferate and air any programme that they feel will attract viewers and religious programmes are sure winners, especially in Ramadan.
