Dacoit Gyansingh held in MP

Chhatarpur, MP, Oct 9 (UNI) Notorious dacoit and Thokia gang member Gyansingh, who carried reward of Rs 60,000 on his head, was arrested in Bada Malhera area in this district, police said today.

Superintendent of Police D Shrinivas said that on a tip-off Khadawa-Ranikhera forest was cordoned of yesterday in which Gyansingh was held while Thokia's younger brother Deepak Patel and three other dacoits absconded.

A 12-bore gun and six cartridges were seized from him.

Gyansingh, resident of Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, killed six Special Task Force constables in Uttar Pradesh after the death of his gang leader Thokia.

A total of 22 cases of loot and ransom have been registered against him in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh police stations.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh police declared the cash reward of Rs 15,000 on his head.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the abscondees, police added.
