Maharashtra: City corporator detained by police

Pune, Oct 9: A team of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai Police today picked up a corporator of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for his alleged links with the banned SIMI.

The corporator was not traceable since last evening, while his family membes refused to speak to the media.

It is suspected that the corporator had funded SIMI activities in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and adjoining areas of the district, police sources told the sources here.

The city Police Commissioner Dr Satyapal Singh, briefing Mediapersons about security arrangements for the Commonwealth Youth Games here, refused to comment on the issue.
