Australian tourist assaulted to death in Goa

Panaji, Oct 9 (UNI) A 65-year-old Australian tourist was allegedly assaulted to death by waiters at a bar in Calangute in north Goa yesterday, following a petty quarrel over delay in serving beer.

According to Inspector General of Police Kishan Kumar, John Kelly, who had gone to the bar for a beer, allegedly abused a waiter for delay in service, ensuing into a fist fight between the two. Following this, other waiters and a security guard brutally assaulted Kelly, who vomited blood later.

Kelly was shifted to the Goa Medical college Hospital at Babolim, where he died due to internal bleeding, Mr Kumar said.

The two waiters and security guard involved in the assault were arrested, he added.
