19-member trade delegation from PoK arrives
Kaman Post, Oct 9 (UNI) A 19-member trade delegation from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here by 'Karvaan-e-Aman' bus today to hold talks with different trade organisations and officials, as the first truck will cross the Aman setu (peace bridge) on October 21.
This will be for the first time after partition that trade ties between Jammu and Kashmir with PoK will be resumed.
The delegation members were given a warm welcome by the representatives of different trade organisations and officials, when they stepped into this side after crossing the Aman Setu, near Kaman post, the last Indian military post on the Line of Control (LoC) on foot; at 1245 hrs.
They were received by the representatives of traders, houseboat owners association, fruit growers and hotel-owners associations at Salamabad.
The week-long visit by the PoK trade delegation followed by an announcement made by the India and Pakistan to allow trade through Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch- Rawlakote routes from October 21.
A similar visit would be arranged to PoK for trade delegation from here.
The PoK delegation would meet different traders from both the regions-- Jammu and Kashmir-- to finalise the modalities, including mode of payment and currency. They would also meet state officials though the trade will be tax-free.
