Major tragedy averted at Pune

Pune, Oct 8 (UNI) A group of 15 persons of Akolner village in Ahmednagar helped avert a major tragedy when they rescued about 20 people travelling in a tractor-trolley, which fell into a river from a bridge here, due to the heavy rains last night.

According to police, the tractor-trolley carrying the 20 passengers fell into the Menaka River, but timely action of the villagers around the area saved all of them.

Police confirmed that no one was reported missing and all were rescued.

The tractor was returning from Nagar city when it got caught in heavy rains, police said.
