Govt teachers in Pondy to go on strike tomorrow
Puducherry, Oct 8 (UNI) All government teachers would go on an indefinite sit-in strike tomorrow to protest the failure of the territorial administration to provide enhanced salary to them as per the VI Pay Commission recommendations.
A decision to this effect was taken at a general body meeting of the Government Teachers' Association here last night.
The meeting took strong exception of the government constituting a one-man commission to go into all the aspects of implementation of the Pay Commission recommendations.
The meeting also decided to organise a black flag agitation on the day when the territorial administration celebrate Teachers Day.
In the second phase, the teachers would go on a mass casual leave for a day and observe a fast, according to an association press release here today.
