CAT quashes appointment of A N Roy as DGP
Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) today quashed and set aside the appointment of Maharashtra's Director General of Police (DGP) A N Roy.
While setting aside the appointment, the tribunal also directed the Maharashtra Government to constitute a high-level committee to begin a fresh procedure for appointment of a new Director General of Police within four weeks from today.
Talking to mediapersons Advocate Ravi Shetty, representing Suprakash Chakraborty, who had challenged the appointment of Mr Roy in the CAT, said the tribunal directed the State to appoint a new Director General of Police from among the three senior most officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre.
Mr Chakraborty is one of the three senior most IPS officers, who are eligible for the post.
