Baripada,Oct 7(UNI) The Mayurbhanj Police today nabbed two hardcore Maoists in Mahuldiha police station area of the district and handed over the duo to their counterparts in Keonjhar district for further interrogation.

Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar Police said the two hard-core Maoists, identified as Murali Purty of Jajpur and Arjun Mahakud of Keonjhar, were involved in a series of crimes in Keonjhar district.

With the arrest of the duo, their attempts to strengthen the support bases of the extremists in the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj villages was ''nipped in the bud'', the SP added.

He said booklets and leaflets recovered from the extremists reflected that they were trying to incite the tribals to rise in revolt against ''oppressions and exploitations'' by the non-tribals, apart from making preparations to observe the ''People's Liberation Guerrilla Army Week'' from December 2 to 9.

A literature seized from them also advocated that the killing of the seer Laxmananda Swaraswati Maharaj of Jalaspeta in Kandhamal by the Maoists was justified.

Yet another leaflet claimed success of the ''Operation Ropeway'' launched by the Maoists at Nayagarh.

The leaflets seized from them established their links with organisations like ''Laal Salam'', ''Chasi Mulia Sangathhan'' and similar other organisations banned by the Orissa government since 2006, police further informed.
