Swaibhimaan launches 'One youth one vote' campaign

Mumbai, Oct 7 (UNI) A city-based voluntary organisation today launched a campaign, 'One Youth One Vote', targeted at the youth in the age group of 18-29.

The NGO is managed by Nitesh Rane, son of Maharashtra revenue minister Narayan Rane.

Of the 20,00,000 kids, who turn 18 every year in Mumbai alone, only about 2,00,000 register themselves as voters. Given this sorry state of affairs, there is a dire need for change, said Mr Nitesh while talking to reporters here today.

Over the past few months, Swabhimaan had registered close to about 10,000 eligible voters in Mumbai.

Swabhimaan volunteers are available to clarify and explain doubts as well as facilitate the visit to the nearest Electoral Registration Office (ERO), he added.
