Myanmar's Gen Maung Aye given red carpet welcome in B'desh

Dhaka, Oct 7 (UNI) Vice Chairman of State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar Vice Senior General Maung Aye and his spouse Daw Mya Mya San were given a warm red carpet welcome as they arrived here today on a three-day visit.

Bangladesh caretaker government Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed and his spouse Neena Ahmed welcomed General Maung Aye and Mrs Daw Mya at the Zia International Airport.

A special flight of Air Bagan of Myanmar, carrying Gen Maung Aye, his wife and a high-powered delegation, landed at the airport at 1100 hrs (local time).

A 19-gun salute boomed in the air, heralding the arrival of the distinguished guests. Two tiny tots presented a bouquet to General Maung Aye and Mrs Daw Mya.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force gave a guard of honour to General Maung Aye as he stood on a decorated podium with the Chief Adviser beside him.

General Maung Aye and his wife drove in a ceremonial motorcade to Sonargaon Hotel, where they would be staying in the capital.
