MP to observe Global Hand Washing Day
Bhopal, Oct 7: Madhya Pardesh is all set to observe 'Global Hand Washing Day' on October 15 aiming to educate people about the importance of hand wash and cleanliness and to accelerate hand washing behaviour, official sources said today.
A total of 1,36,570 school students and teachers would wash their hands to call for proper hygiene practices across the world to raise awareness and to encourage people about hand washing with soap.
It is spearheaded by the joint auspices of United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and state government's sanitation campaign.
''On this day, the school students will be informed about the proper way, time and duration of washing hands,'' Campaign's Programme Officer Rashmi Arun Shami.
She said that it would also be taught that how to protect themselves from several diseases by eating and cooking food with clean hands. About 44 per cent people could be saved from diarrohea if they wash their hands properly.
''Washing hands properly means getting rid of germs, oil and grease and making one invulnerable to diseases,'' she added.
