Kalraj Mishra to be incharge of BJP in UP LS polls
New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra has been nominated as election-incharge of Uttar Pradesh for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
BJP President Rajnath Singh has made an exception in the case of Mr Mishra as any leader is not given election charge of his home state, party sources said. Mr Mishra will continue to be incharge of the BJP in Bihar.
Making the announcement today, BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad said BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley will continue to have the organisational charge of the state but not elections.
Sources believe that Mr Jaitley who has been credited for successes by the party in key states including Gujarat and Karnataka Assembly polls recently may not want his record to be tainted in Uttar Pradesh where the party is in the third place after the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party.
