Hard core ultra killed in police encounter

Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, Oct 7(UNI) A naxalite was killed in a police encounter and a naxalite camp was demolished after an ultra killed a village head and a Kotwar in the forest near Pidia village in this district, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team cordoned-off the area and swooped down the camp while a hard-core naxal Kudiyam Sannu was gunned down and about 12 others managed to escape in the dense forest during the one-hour-long encounter yesterday.

Police also recovered four loaded guns, one tiffin bomb, naxalite literature, bows and arrows and other equipments from them.

Reportedly, the armed naxalite dragged out the village head Podiyam Suklu (50) from his house on Sunday night and killed him suspecting a police informer. The naxalites later killed the Kotwar Podiyam Pandu, police added.
