Government official jumps from Udyog Bhawan, dies

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) A 52-year-old senior government official of the Chemicals and Fertiliser department allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the window of Udyog Bhawan in New Delhi district this afternoon.

Hukum Singh Kathuria, Deputy Advisor (Industries) in the Chemical and Fertiliser department, allegedly jumped from the window of his 5th floor office at Udhyog Bhawan on Maulana Azad Marg at about 1340 hrs, said the police.

Due to severe head injuries he died almost immediately and was declared 'brought dead' by doctors on being rushed to R M L Hospital.

He had locked his room before jumping.

His family sources said ever since his accident two years back, Kathuria was under depression.

''It seems to be an act of depression.'' Kathuria is survived by wife, who works in a bank, and two sons - both living abroad.
