Dawood's aide Fazlu's henchman arrested for running extortion racket

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) Special Cell sleuths have arrested underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's aide for running an extortion racket in the city.

Naseem alias Tanveer, a henchman of Dawood aide Fazl-ur-Rehman alias Fazlu, was arrested on October 5 from Inderlok Metro station following specific information, police said today.

Naseem, who would assist Fazlu during his court dates, after his arrest in 2006, later told the police that he took over the don's extortion legacy in Delhi from a Pakistan national Ali.

After Ali was arrested and the 'reigns' of the racket passed on to Mauseem, also a Pakistani, Naseem was in regular touch with him.

He had directed Mauseem to extort Dubai businessmen and send the money for Fazlu in Delhi.

During interrogation Naseem also said that a month back he was asked by Fazlu to give mobile numbers of three affluent Delhi businessmen to Mauseem who in turn made extortion calls to them last month.

Naseem had earlier been involved in a Bihar jeweller's kidnapping, police added.
