BSF seize 9 kg heroin on Indo-Pak border
Jalandhar, Oct 7 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) seized nine kg heroin valued at Rs 45 crore in the international markey near Border Outpost (BOP) GG-I in the Fazilka sector this morning.
BSF sources at the Punjab Frontier headquarters here said the seizure was made by a patrol which noticed a red coloured piece of cloth tied to a tree close to the Indo-Pakistan border. On search of the area around the tree, nine packets of heroin, each weighing one kg were found.
Sources said the consignment smuggled from Pakistan was to be recovered by associates of Pak-based smugglers, residing in one of the villages on this side of the border. This 'conceal and clear' method is adopted by smugglers for smuggling small quantaties of heroin.
During recent months. the BSF has seized 88 kg heroin on the Punjab border.
