Aditya Birla Group contributes Rs. 5 crores towards flood relief measures in Orissa
Mumbai, Oct 07 (ANI/Business Wire India): As a measure of solidarity with the people of Orissa and to help alleviate the hardships caused by the unprecedented floods, the Aditya Birla Group has contributed Rs.5 crores.
Ravi Kastia, Managing Director of Essel Mining, an Aditya Birla Group Company, today presented the cheque to Orissa's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Aditya Birla Group has a significant presence in Orissa.
Some of its major projects in this region include Hindalco's Aditya Aluminium, Utkal Alumina and the Hirakud Smelter; Grasim, UltraTech, Essel Mining and Idea Cellular.
In all of its projects in Orissa, the group is actively engaged in community initiatives and rural development.
The group works in 3700 villages in proximity to its plants which operate all over the country through the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, spearheaded by Rajashree Birla.
