President, PM greet people on Durga Puja, Dussehra

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today greeted the people on the occasion of Durga Puja and Dussehra.

Ms Patil in her message said Durga Puja symbolises the triumph of truth, righteousness and virtue over evil.

''May this great occasion inspire us to walk on the path of rectitude and tolerance and build a society in which peace and harmony always prevail,'' she said.

''I send my warm greetings to all my fellow citizens and wish them happiness and prosperity,'' said the President.

The Prime Minister in his message said India has an age-old tradition of celebrating Dussehra and Durga Puja both symblise the triumph of good over evil.

''The activities centering around these festivals symbolise our rich cultural heritage and are an inspiration for a life of righteous action,'' he said.
