PG medics and house-surgeons observe token strike in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 6(UNI) Functioning of five government medical colleges in Kerala was affected as the post-graduate students and house-surgeons went on a one-day token strike today protesting against one year compulsory rural service.
They were also demanding a hike in their stipend and withdrawal of bonds insisting on government service for a specified period.
They said one-year rural service was made applicable only to those who got admission in government seats, sparing entrants in the management quota. They also pointed out that house-surgeons were unable to attend the PG entrance examination during the rural service.
