Man, woman die charred by flames

Puducherry, Oct 6 (UNI) A-38 year old man's efforts to save his lover who set herself on fire died along with her, here today.

According to police, Anjalakshi(35) was married to one Venkatesaperual of Karuvadikuppam. About an year back, Venkatesaperumal died and after that Anjalakshi developed a relationship with one Durai of Orleanpet. Both were living as husband and wife. But they used to quarrel frequently. On one such occasion last night, Anjalakshi poured kerosene over her and set herself on fire. Durai who tried to save her also sustained burns. Their house also caught fire but fire tenders summoned by neighbours, put out the flames. Both were then admitted to the government general hospital.

While Anjalakshi died well past midnight last night, Durai succumbed to his burns this morning.
