MP: Freedom fighter, Gupta no more
Badwani(MP), Oct 6: Freedom fighter and Gandhian Shivnath Prasad Gupta died at his residence at Sendhwa in this district on Monday, Oct 6 after a prolonged illness at the age of 88. He is survived by three sons and four daughters. His funeral with full honours is slated this evening, family sources said.
Mr Gupta suffered paralysis some time back and was ailing since then.
He had actively participated in the 1942 Quit India movement and led the freedom struggle in West Nimar region. He was imprisoned for a total of 19 months during the freedom movement, including for taking a leading role in unfurling the tricolour after lowering the Union Jack at the local fort.
Mr Gupta was the last surviving freedom fighter in Badwani district.
