Curfew passes cancelled in Kashmir: CRPF

Srinagar, Oct 6 (UNI) The curfew passes issued by the District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, yesterday, have been cancelled, a CRPF personnel said in the down town city today.

''Sorry we can not leave you as we have instructions not to entertain any curfew pass'', said a CRPF personnel to a UNI representative having a valid curfew pass at Khayam chowk when he was on way to office at Exchange road this morning.

The curfew passes have been cancelled today as per the fresh instructions, he said.

However, when he was on way back home, he was again told by a CRPF at Rainawari that curfew passes have been cancelled by the authorities. ''We do not entertain any curfew pass, rush to your home before you are arrested'', he was told.

Similarly officials, having valid curfew passes were turned away at Sonawar, Batmaloo, Exhibition crossing, Rambagh and other places.

The CRPF officials said they had strict instructions not to allow any person, including those having curfew passes to move towards the city.

Eyewitnesses said CRPF and police beat up people at Nowpora.
