Anti-corruption bureau catches govt officials on camera for graft

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi Police today arrested 12 officials of the Delhi government, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Police on corruption charges, through a sting operation.

The 'operation' was conducted after complainant Shiv Kumar Tiwari, who runs an eatery and sells flowers in Connaught Place area, complained that officials of the NDMC, labour department and police collect money from him along with others, on a monthly basis, as 'protection money'.

He alleged that the officials used to collect money by threatening to register a false case against him.

The monthly collection from each shop out of hundreds of shops was between Rs 500-30,000.

While 12 officials have been arrested, two others including a Delhi Police Constable, were absconding, police added.
