100 marriages solemnised in Kashmir despite curfew
Srinagar, Oct 6 (UNI) About one hundred marriage ceremonies have been solemnised, though with less number of guests, in the Kashmir valley despite curfew.
Deputy Commissioners of different districts in the valley said they yesterday facilitated marriage ceremonies in their respective areas by providing curfew passes to bride, bridegroom and limited number of guests.
They said they were approached by people to issue curfew passes and other documents for organising marriage ceremonies.
''However, we issued limited curfew passes and instructed law-enforcing agencies to allow them to hold the ceremonies,'' they said.
They said a number of marriage-attenders were also issued curfew passes to reach their homes.
Adequate numbers of ambulance were also placed at different places for transportation of ill people to hospitals yesterday.
official said .
Similarly, passengers, who had come from Jammu and were stranded at different places in south Kashmir were also taken to their respective homes, officials claimed.
However, people alleged that today the situation was entirely different and those having valid curfew passes were also not being allowed by the CRPF and police personnel deployed in the valley.
