TN Govt urges Centre to release fertilisers
Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today urged the Centre to release adequate quantity of fertilisers to the State for the Rabi season as it did for the 2008 Khariff season.
Speaking at a review meeting on fertilisers at New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S Arumugham, has urged the Centre to release 6.02 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 2.21 lakh MT of Di-Ammonium Phosphate, 2.84 lakh MT of Pottash, 1.87 lakh MT of complex and 0.45 lakh MT of Treble Super Phosphate fertilisers.
He said the state would follow the guidelines issued by the Centre and extend its full cooperations.
Mr Arumugham also urged the Centre to slash import duty for liquid fertilisers and those solvable in water for the benefit of farmers.
