Tata's pull-out decision from Singur arrogant:Forward Bloc

Kolkata, Oct 5 (UNI) All India Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh today said that Ratan Tata's decision to relocate its Nano car project from Singur to elsewhere was arrogant.

He also termed the Opposition parties' demand for returning land from the small-car project to the farmers as contemptible.

''The incident, unprecedented in the 32-years Left Front rule in West Bengal, has spoiled the state's image,'' Mr Ghosh said.

He said the state government gave land to the Tatas without even reaching a consensus among the Left Front constituents.

The Tatas had announced their decision to pull out the Nano car project from Singur despite having incentives from the government, he rued.

''The government should learn from the incident and ensure that no farmland be acquired for setting up industry. It should have framed the rehabilitation package at the very beginning, instead of formulating it in phases. The norms with regard to land acquisition and compensation should be passed in the state's Legislative Assembly,'' Mr Ghosh said.
