Sonia ''cheated'' Telangana people: Sinha
Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Accusing Congress President and United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi of ''cheating'' the Telangana people on the statehood issue, Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice-President Yashwant Sinha today said only the BJP could create separate Statehood for Telangana.
Dismissing it as a ''mere drama'' the political situation leading to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) quitting the ruling Congress-led UPA Government, Mr Sinha told a press conference here that the BJP and the NDA led by it were fully committed to the separate Telangana state. Let the people of Andhra Pradesh take note of this, he added.
''People can look upon our record. We have created three new states, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Uttaranchal'', he recalled.
Mr Sinha, who took a memorandum from the handloom weavers of Sircilla prone to starvation deaths, urged the Union and Andhra Pradesh Governments to immediately take corrective measures to end suicide and starvation deaths by the weavers. The problems of handloom weavers were looked at with political perspective and not with humane attitude by the Government, he alleged.
