UPA supporting terror outfits indirectly: Rajnath

Agartala, Oct 5: Demanding to register a strong protest with the caretaker government in Bangladesh for allegedly abetting ISI-backed Harkat-ul-Jihad-Islami (HuJI) and its anti-Indian activities, BJP president Rajnath Singh has called for a national consensus on fighting terror.

Rajnath on Saturday, Oct 4 alleged that fundamentalist elements and anti-Indian outfits like ISI, HuJI, SIMI and al-Qaeda were getting indirect support from the UPA government, as neither did it take any action against the terrorists nor formulated stringent laws to tackle the menace.

''We must have a consensus and the UPA government should convene an all-party meeting to evolve a joint strategy to deal with terrorism, which is a challenge before India,'' Mr Singh said and held vote bank politics of the UPA and the Left parties responsible for serial blasts in Agartala.

The BJP leader referred to a recent US report which, he said, had described India as the country worst-affected by terror attacks and lashed out at the UPA government for dragging its feet on enacting a stringent anti-terror law like POTA.
