Police nab inter-state gang, foil bank robbery

Baripada, Oct 5 (UNI) Police successfully foiled the plan of a series of bank loots with the arrest of three members of an inter-state gang of dacoits at Bahalda, Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar said here today.

Mr Gangwar said the four-member gang had confessed that they were planning to commit robbery at Sargada and Muruda branches of the Baitarani Gramya Bank (BGB), Nishchinta branch of United Bank of India and Bhuasuni branch of the State Bank of India.

He said cases had been registered against the trio under section 394 IPC read with section 25 of the Arms Act. The police also seized three powerful 7.5 ''auto-pistols'' from their possession.

The dacoits have been identified as Ranga alias Motilal Soren of Gorumahisani, Sanjay Gope of Musabani (East Singhbhum) Uday Majhi of Dumurdiha (East Singhbhum). Each of them was armed with one auto-pistol.

One member of the gang Laxmidhar Singh Munda of Potka (East Singhbhum) is absconding and efforts are on to nab him in close cooperation with the Jharkhand police.

All the three accused, police said, were forwarded to the jail on being produced before a local court.
