Pak devises new security plan for political leadership
Islamabad, Oct 5 : After the recent unsuccessful suicide attack on Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, the Pakistan Government has reportedly devised a new security plan for the political leadership to ensure the safety of the senior leaders.
The government move also follows an intelligence report claiming security threats to prominent politicians, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, ministers and heads of major political parties, the Daily Times reported.
The politicians have been asked to restrict their movement and keep their itineraries confidential under the new security plan, the paper quoted the Interior Ministry sources as saying.
They added that law-enforcement agencies had been asked to remain vigilant and increase security around the offices and residences of potential targets.
