Maoists demands fresh general convention in Nepal
Kathmandu, Oct 5 : Maoist leaders have demanded that a fresh general convention of the party to be held in order to consolidate the revolutionary zeal in Nepal.
Responding to the political report presented by Prime Minister Prachanda at the central committee meeting of the party, the leaders agreed with his conclusion that the party has met with success in its policies and strategies since the beginning of peace process.
They also raised concerns about the need to protect the revolutionary spirit in the party.
They said that a general convention should be called in order to forge the new strategies in the changed context. It has been seventeen years since the Maoist party held its general convention. As per the party statute, a general convention should be held every five years.
The Maoists meeting will continue on Monday, Nepalnews reported.
