Make quality medicines with common man in mind: Gov

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir today stressed the need for drug manufacturers to make top quality medicines at affordable prices.

Dr Jamir was speaking at the two-day International seminar, organised at the Mumbai University Kalina campus on 'Drug Discovery and Development'.

He said the drug manufacturers should use their vast experience to produce top quality medicines, which the common man can afford.

The governor also asked the manufacturers to look into the issue of side effects of the medicines and told them to take care to see that the patient suffers the least from these effects.

Jamir told the drug manufacturers that they now have more responsibilty on them with the spread of heart diseases, malaria and dengue and asked them to rise to the challenge.

Mumbai varsity Vice Chancellor Vijay Kolhe was also present on the occasion.
