Karnataka Police University to provide training to cops

Mysore, Oct 5 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya today said the state police university would provide training to the police personnel.

Speaking at Karnataka Police Academy(KPA) here, Dr Acharya said there was a demand for such university in the State. As the Karnataka Police has a separate status in the country, it needs better facilities for high-standard training to the selected candidates. The university proposals would be kept before the state cabinet soon for its implementation, he added.

The Home Minister said the present-day police personnel were facing new challanges with an increase in terrorism all over the country. The police should monitor various terrorism activities and they should be prepared to face eventuality, he added.

He said the Government would assist the police personnel in curbing terrorism. They should also assist intelligence-wing in combating terrorism and anti-social activities, he added.
