Jaggi CD: Convicts' kin try public screening
Raipur, Oct 5 (UNI) Relatives of a few of those convicted last year, for Nationalist Congress Party Treasurer Ram Avtar Jaggi's murder, attempted a public screening here of a controversial compact disc (CD) regarding a bribe being allegedly taken for the ruling in the case.
The kin put up a tent at the bustling Jaistambh crossing where police stopped them from screening sans permission.
''No case has been registered in this connection,'' City Superintendent of Police Lal Ummed Singh told UNI.
During a press conference here last week, the relatives released the CD and alleged that it contained a statement -- by the son of the judge who handed down the ruling -- mentioning that money changed hands.
The relatives said today that they would screen the CD across the state. The judge's son lodged a complaint against the kin at Civil Lines Police Station yesterday and shortly thereafter the relatives also submitted an application for registering of a case against the judge's son.
The judge also spoke of contempt measures against those levelling the allegation and those reporting it sans presenting his side of the matter that assumed political hues. Former chief minister Ajit Jogi's son Amit was the sole accused to be acquitted in the Jaggi case.
