Hospital to organise concert to mark 'World Arthritis Day'

Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) A charity concert would be organised by a leading Bone and Joint Hospital in the city to mark the 'World Arthritis Day' on October 12.

The concert, to be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, would be organised by the Soundarapandian Bone and Joint Hospital and Research Institute to commemorate its silver jubilee year.

The Charity show would be conducted by the famous Lakshman Sruthi Orchestra troupe in which popular personalities like Suchitra, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav, Ranjith, Belly Raj and Deepa Mariam would take the stage to entertain the audience.

A hospital release here today said worldover October 12 was being observed as World Arthritis Day to create an awareness on prevention and treatment of the dreaded ailment.

About 8,000 tickets would be available for public at prices ranging from Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100. The proceeds would be used for providing free treatment to poor arthritis patients.

Arthritis is a condition which causes damage to the joints in the bones leading to physical disability in people post their middle age.

''With various reasons for the damage or degeneration to the bone structure in the body, the disease is a cause of concern across the world with thousands suffering from it. In a quest to increase the awareness levels and educating the masses about treatment and fighting against the disease, medical organisations around the world celebrate the October 12 every year as World Arthritis Day'', the release added.
