HMIL evokes good response among car users
Tiruchirpalli, Oct 5(UNI) The new version of LPG-petrol operated Santro LPG car from the Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) evoked tremendous response among car users, according to Y S Kim South Regional Manager HMIL.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Kim said the HMIL presently markets 33 variants of passenger cars across the globe. They are continuing their tradition of being the fastest growing passenger car manufacturer, registering sales of 3,27,160 cars in the year of 2007, an increase of 9.2 per cent over the previous year. In the domestic market, it clocked a growth of 7.6 per cent as compared to 2006 with 2,00,412 units, while overseas sales grew by 11.8 per cent, with exports of 1,26,748 units.
He said they have export orders for the next three months and presently they are exporting vehicles to 90 countries. They sold sold 60,000 cars so far in the domestic market, as against their target of selling 90,000 cars.
The HMIL has set up its second plant, which produces an additional three lakh units per annum, raising their total production capacity to six lakh units per annum.
To a question, he said HMIL is investing to expand capacity in line with its positioning as Hyundai Motor Company's(HMC) global export hub for compact cars. Apart from expansion of production capacity, they planned to expand its dealer network, which will be increased from 224-300 this year.
