DMDK dares political parties to launch welfare programmes
Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) Actor-politician and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) President Vijayakanth today dared other political parties in the State to compete with his party on launching welfare programmes for the poor.
Inaugurating a new project called ''Light a Life'' for visually impaired youth, he pointed out that his party, the DMDK, was in fact launched by a differently-abled person.
''DMDK is the only political party to have a separate wing for the physically challenged,'' he said and added that disabled people would be given job opportunities if his party was voted to power.
''Political parties come to physically-challenged persons just for votes. And once elected to power, they will not fulfill their demands,'' he added.
He said the ''Light a Life'' project was a career training programme being offered by HR Consultancy firm Ma Foi Foundation, whose Chief K Pandiarajan is an office-bearer of the DMDK.
The project offered JAWS - Job Access With Approach - a free training programme in which a software would educate the visually impaired and train them in personality development, English skills, computer basics, entrepreneurship and counselling.
