Couple told they're 'too heavy for plane to take off'!

London, October 5 : A couple weighing 38 stone altogether was asked to move by the stewardess because they were 'too heavy for the plane to take off'.

Alan Coupe and wife Jane, who were on their way to Guernsey for a week's vacation with their son Chris, were asked to change their seats while the plane was still stationed at the runway.

Coupe, who was 20 stone, shifted to the front of the plane to maintain an even-spread of the weight, following which the plane took off.

Mrs. Coupe, who runs a bed and breakfast business with hubby, was so embarrassed that she couldn't meet anybody's eyes.

"The stewardess asked one of us to get up and move to the front, so Alan volunteered to move which I was thankful about as I was so embarrassed I just couldn't look up," Telegraph quoted the 49-year-old as saying.

She said: "We couldn't believe that we were too heavy for the plane to take off.

"It was a decent-sized plane full of holidaymakers so it was devastating to be told that even a big plane like that couldn't cope with all our weight being at the back."

Following the embarrassing occurrence, that took place in Southampton, the duo started following a radically conscious diet that led them to shed 2st 7lb between them.

While Mrs. Coupe joined a famous slimming club, she managed to convince 54-year-old hubby to join her.

Subsequently, Mrs. Coupe lost an amazing 6st 5lb, dropping six dress sizes, whereas Mr. Coupe shed an astonishing 5st 13lb.

The couple, who habitually lived on takeaways and late night dinners previously, shifted to pasta, vegetable curries or steak salad instead.

Mrs. Coupe, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, revealed that she and her husband are now much more confident about travelling following their health regime.

Now a size 14, a confident Mrs. Coupe said: "I don't feel embarrassed about getting on a plane anymore - we all feel so great we could fly around the world now without a hitch."
