New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Alarmed over the incidents of attacks on minorities in Karnataka, the Centre has asked the state government to be more careful and restore peace and normalcy.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil visited Bangalore last evening and held discussions with Governor Rameshwar Thakur. He also met Karnataka Home Minister, Law Minister, Chief Sectretary and the Director General of Police and discussed with them the situation in the state.

Mr Patil's visit assumes significance as the Centre had earlier issued an advisory to the state government under Article 355 of the Constitution, asking it to take immediate action to curb violence against minorities and places of worship.
