Adlabs touches 10,000 screening mark using Digital Cinema format
Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Digital Cinema format introduced in the Indian market by Anil Ambani's ADAG entertainment arm - Adlabs Films- has achieved a milestone by screening 10,000 shows using the technology.
Adlabs Films Chief Operating Officer Anil Arjun, in a statement issued here, said, ''Adlabs is implementing globally recognised Digital Cinema technology standards and processes. We intend to be an end-to-end world class service provider covering mastering to delivery on site; and are looking at significant expansion in this space aimed to cover 500 screens from the current 400, in the initial phase.'' After running a battery of tests in April this year, the company- the first cinema operator in India to start rolling out Digital Cinema- has transfered over 2,000 films to screens across India and abroad using Reliance Communication's OFC network.
Films encoded and transferred in this method in turn were screened at the company's 400 theatres using DCI-grade projectors and servers, the statement said.
''We are able to offer unparalleled picture and sound quality, for over 10,000 screenings of both Bollywood and Hollywood films. These screenings have also included regional Indian films as well as Hollywood films shown in BIG Digital 3D format,'' Patrick von Sychowski, COO of Adlabs Digital Cinema said.
