5.5 magnitude quake rocks Andaman
New Delhi, Oct 4: A moderate quake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale, rocked the Andaman Islands early on Saturday, Oct 4.
According to the Meteorological Department here, the temblor occurred at 0250 hrs and the epicentre of the quake was 10.8 degree North Latitude and 91.7 degree East Longitude. No loss of property or life was reported, it added. It said in a statement that the quake occurred 69km west of Little Andaman and 995km northwest of Langkawi.
The department said the quake did not pose any tsunami threat.
