Naxalites gun down one policeman in Muzaffarpur
Muzaffarpur, Oct 4 (UNI) A jawan of Bihar Military Police, Sanjeev Kumar, was gunned down by naxalites during an encounter at Darmajhaura village under Sahebganj police station in the district today.
Police said acting on a tip-off, a joint team of CRPF and Bihar police carried out a raid at Darmajhaura village, where naxalites opened fire on security personnel as they approached the hide-out.
''The security personnel had to open fire in self-defence and one jawan of Bihar Military Police, Sanjeev Kumar, died on the spot in the ensuing encounter, ''police said, adding, massive combing operation was on to flush out the naxalites from the area.
Additional reinforcement had been sent to the spot and the village was cordoned off.
