CBI raids Tribal Development Corp office in Nashik
Nashik, Oct 4 (UNI) A team of CBI officials raided the office of Tribal Development Corporation (TDC) here today.
The raid was part of the CBI investigation regarding the purchase of foodgrains for tribals two years ago. Similar raids were conducted in Mumbai, Nagpur and Jalgaon.
In 2006-07, foodgrains worth Rs 32 crore were purchased for tribals without issuing tenders at higher rates. Wheat was purchased for Rs 1,200 per quintal, whereas the market rate was Rs 800 per quintal. Similarly, rice was purchased at Rs 1,350 per quintal while the market rate was Rs 1,200.
''There were same complaints regarding the purchase of foodgrains. A team of CBI official visited the office of TDC managing director D K Bagul and demanded some files and other documents, which were handed over to them,'' Tribal Development Commissioner Bhaskar Munde told UNI today.
