Two militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Oct 3: Two militants, reportedly foreigners, were killed in a joint operation by security forces in south Kashmir, official sources said today.

They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces launched a joint operation in a village in Shopian last evening following a tip-off about the presence of the militants there.

However, when the area was being sealed, the militants opened fire. In the fierce clash, which continued till late midnight, the two militants were killed.

Two AK rifles and arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
