Pondy: Rs 685 crore loan sought from HUDCO

Puducherry, Oct 3: The Puducherry administration has sought a loan of Rs 685 crore from HUDCO, of which Rs 250 crore would be allotted for development of Thirunallar in Karaikal as a temple town, Chief Ministrer V Vaithilingam said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the balance amount would be utilised for developmental work, after receiving the loan.

He said Puducherry required an additional 70 MW of power. "We have already approached the Centre for this, he added.

He said the party was evolving the principles for its government and in such a situation, both cannot be differentiated, referring to the remark by Union Minister V Narayansami that the party and the government were not different.
