Rs 16 crore worth schemes for Karaikal region

Puducherry, Oct 3 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would soon spend Rs 16 crore for implementation of schemes in Karaikal region of the Union Territory, Chief minister V Vaithilingam has said.

Launching the scheme to provide pocket money to school children, distributing pension for aged and laying the foundation stone for a school at Nettapakkam near here last night, Mr Vaithilingam said the administration would take steps to remove the misconception in the minds of the people of Karaikal that the region was neglected.

Steps had been taken to implement several schemes pending for two years due to paucity of funds, he added.

Puducherry Welfare Minsiter M Kandasamy, who also participated in the function said the Centre had sanctioned 75,000 LPG connections for Puducherry.
