Nuke deal with US beneficial for country: Bal Thackeray
Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today said the nuclear deal with the US was beneficial for India, as it would definitely reduce loadshedding in the country and save atomic energy.
In an editorial in the party's mouthpiece 'Saamna', Mr Thackeray, whose party is a major ally of the NDA, said the voters will decide whether the deal would benefit the Congress or not in the elections due next year, but the country would definitely benefit.
Mr Thackeray, a known Communist baiter, denied that signing of the Nuclear would deal would affect the sovereignty of the nation.
''One has to remember that this is civil nuclear deal, which took place without signing a comprehensive test ban treaty and fissile material cutoff treaty,'' he added.
