National Urban Sanitation Policy announced

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave the go-ahead for declaring a National Urban Sanitation Policy and also setting up of a national urban sanitation advisory group.

Under the policy, a rating mechanism to ascertain the sanitation status of all class-I cities and an annual national award scheme would be instituted, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
